SATURDAY, MARCH 15: PRINCE GEORGE FARMERS' MARKET ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The PGFMA will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at CNC, Room 1-310 A. Sign-in time is 2:30 pm, meeting starts at 3:00 pm and ends at 5:30 pm. Elections are as follows: 3 positions, President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The rest of the directors will depend on the Special Resolution 25-(2). The PGFMA AGM is open to the public. Please attend.

SATURDAY, MARCH 1: UNBC SURVEY ON NEW LIQUOR REGULATIONS

"This weekend, Prince George Farmers’ Market will be hosting UNBC students. They will be conducting a Public Interest Survey about the possibility of selling alcohol out of liquor stores.

Since the provincial government is currently considering allowing the sale of beer, wine and liquor in grocery stores, the students are asking the population of Prince George to tell them what they think.
 
Do we need a balance between more convenient access to alcohol and possible public health/safety issue? If so, how is the sale of alcohol in grocery stores may affect British Columbian businesses?"

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22: FREE RADON TESTING KITS AT THE MARKET

John Forbes is working with the Canadian Cancer Society and will be at the Farmers' Market on February 22 to hand out FREE Radon kits to the community so that people can test their homes. 

He will hand out the free testing kits at the Year Round Market in the Green Building behind the Keg at 1074 Sixth Avenue. Hope to see you at the Market!

What Does Summer Taste Like? Tickets $10 on sale at the Market - only 50 available, get your ticket now!

The Prince George Farmers’ Market presents a Taste the Market Chef Challenge at 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on SATURDAY AUGUST 24th. Five local chefs from Hummus Brothers, Ramada Hotel, Shiraz, White Goose and Zaffron Cuisine will search the Market for local ingredients to create their taste of Summer. Tickets $10, available this weekend at both Market locations: Year-round at 1074 Sixth Avenue in the Green Building behind the Keg and outdoors at Third and George. Ticket holders will sample the chefs’ offerings and vote for the People’s Choice.

Only 50 tickets are available. Sold at Marlinspike Garden and Too Hot Chili Peppers booth at the Courthouse Market and October Farm booth at the Year Round Market in the Green Building behind the Keg at 1074 Sixth.

JUNE 29 CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE MARKET & A RHUBARB RHAPSODY AT 11 A.M.

Bringa sample of your favourite Rhubarb recipe and the written recipe to the Market by 11am. Judges will devour and choose their favourite. Celebrate Bike to Work Week at the Market - 10am on Saturday June 1st. Bicyclists and the public receive a free enjoyable smoothie sample. 11am- Join the Bike Parade from Third to Sixth Avenue and you could win a market prize. We will have 3 prizes for adults and 3 for the kids. Dress up your bike and yourself! Be creative and ingenious! See you there! Come and join in the fun!

SATURDAY, MAY 25: A SWEET DAY AT THE MARKET!

It's the Market's Day of the Honeybee - sample some local honey and taste honey drinks! For the kids we'll also have honeybee cutouts to take home. This sweet event takes place at both market locations: at George & Third as well as at the year-round location on 6th Avenue at the green building behind the Keg. 

SATURDAY, MAY 18: VICTORIA DAY CELEBRATIONS!

Get into the spirit of it and dress up as royalty - whatever takes your fancy. There will be kids' cornersfor the kids to make paper crowns at both locations on George & Third and at the Keg location. Drop by the Market for a food demonstration on how to integrate more vegetables in your diet - presentation starts at 12 noon at the George & Third location with Yvonna Breed of Marlinspike Gardens presenting.

SATURDAY, MAY 11 IS MOTHERS DAY AT THE MARKET

Sunday, May 12 is Mothers Day and Saturday, May 11 is Mothers Day At The Market. There will be tea and treats at the Third and George location, starting at 11:00am. It is a BYOTC (bring your own tea cup) event but we'll have cups for those who forgot to bring their cups :).

The market will be at two downtown locations: The Year-Round location (Indoors And Outdoors) at 1074-6th Avenue, behind the Keg Restaurant and outdoors only at Third and George! Celebrate the first day of winter on Friday, December 21st! The Farmers’ Market at 1074 Sixth Avenue will be open from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Enjoy winter activities and crafts, music, snow sculptures, winter fashion show, hot drinks and eats, kids’ story times, and more in the City Hall area from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Lantern Walk begins at the Civic Centre Plaza at 6 p.m.

OCTOBER 20: GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW MARKET

The Year Round Prince George Farmers’ Market has moved to its new home and is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Prince George on 1074 6th Avenue, behind the Keg Restaurant.

With the loss of its former indoor location on Third Avenue and George Street, the Market has now found its new home for the displaced indoor vendors. You will find a wide range of local meats including Bison and Beef, locally grown vegetables and salad greens, breads and bakings, eggs, jams & jellies, preserves, salsa, honey, fair trade coffee, arts & crafts and jewellery, soaps, tooled leather, as well as a coffee bar and hot food!

Join us October 20, during the first indoor market of the season at our new location on 6th Avenue, behind the Keg Restaurant, and enter the draw for a Market Basket valued at $200.
